Kozhikode Backwaters are located in the north of Kerala
in India. Kozhikode was formerly known as Calicut. Kozhikode was earlier
ruled by the local rulers called Zamorins who traded with merchants from
Arabia. It was referred to as the 'great province of the Malabar'. The place
is popular as Vasco De Gama, the first European landed here in 1498. During
the regime of the Britishers, Kozhikode was an important British trading
outpost.

are hot and humid with the maximum temperature of 36°C and minimum
temperature of 32°C. While in winters the maximum temperature is 18°C

Dolphin point lies at the distance of 2 km from Kozhikode and has a light
house and two piers. It is a good place to spot dolphins jumping and playing

which houses the rare collection of the ancient coins, bronze sculptures,
