Mount Abu

Location : At 4000 ft of elevation, Mount Abu in Aravalli range of hills, is located in southwestern part of Rajasthan.
Climate condition : Unlike other part of Rajasthan, Mount Abu has salubrious climate, as it is the single hill resort of Rajasthan. Noons in summers are hot, but nights are cooler. Overall it experiences temperate climate.
Best time to visit : February-June, October-December

Thing to do
Mount Abu, the only hill station of desert state of Rajasthan, is fortunate having many of natural sightseeing places including many of famous temples that are main attraction of the small hill station. Boat ride in its famous Nakki Lake, trekking, wildlife viewing, temples viewing and nature walk and viewing in its beautiful hills are some activities one can be sure of enjoying.

Places of Interests
Nakki Lake : The beautiful lake erupted, according to legends, by God's nail scraping of ground. The best thing one can enjoy here is indeed boat ride, but taking paddle boat is best if you are with your spouse or closet companion as sailing relaxly through the serene water is quite pleasing.

Guru Shikhar : The highest peak of Aravalli, Guru Shikhar fetches a good pack of natural beauty as viewing plains from here present a very lovely sight. A small Shiv temple, Dattatreya Temple is also located here.

Sunset Point : The beautiful point famous for giving a very panoramic view of sunset and sunrise is major tourist attractions.

Honeymoon Point : Superb view of nearby valley and plains from here can be taken from here. Also known as Andra point, Honeymoon point as its name suggests us famous spot for couples as being here means fair opportunity to go twosome.

Toad Rock : Having the physical structure of a toad, Toad Rock is an ideal place for trekking. Seeing the rock overhanging the waters seem as if the toad like rock is going to swim in the water.

Mount Abu Sanctuary : The sanctuary spreading across 288 sq km is the best place loved by Eco lovers at Mount Abu. An amazing place for birding, the sanctuary has approx 250 species of birds. The faunal assets of the park include Leopards Chinkara, Sloth Bear, Wild Boar and Langoor.

Dilwara Jain Temple : Dedicated to Jain Tirthankars, the temple complex of Dilwara dates back to 11-13th century. With its magnificent pillars and ceilings, the temple presents an example of unique architectural beauty.

Eco attraction/Eco excursion
The first sightseeing place welcoming you at Mount Abu is Nakki Lake, which is a wonder in the desert land. Enjoying paddle boating in the lake and nature walking around the lake form the best joy for family and tourists in group. For honeymooners, Honeymoon Point is always ready with a cozy place to let them go twosome and fall into fervent romance.

Travellers willing to enjoy trekking can ascend to toad rock, which offers trekkers a fine treat. Nature viewing of beautiful plains, valleys and peaks can be availed by reaching to favourite sightseeing spots of the town like Guru Shikhar and Sunset Point. Watching sunset from Sunset Point doesn't only give beautiful sunset view but also the nearby rich natural environs.

Enjoying wildlife viewing is one of the best thing that tops up one's vacation at Mount Abu. The popular Mount Abu Sanctuary, pervading over 288 sq km is paradise for birding in the region. Watching hundreds of species of its total 250 species of birds along with viewing wild animals like Sloth Bear, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Chinkara and hundreds of Langoors are great delight for wildlife lovers.

Besides the famous Dilwara Jain temple with its amazing craftsmanship is prime destination of Mount Abu. Exploring it along with other cultural and historical spots like Adhar Devi Temple and Achalgarh Fort is worth visiting to finish up the frolic vacation at Mount Abu.

Reaching there
By Air : The nearest airport is Udaipur (185 km), very well connected to international airports like Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur. Taxi as well as buses are available from Udaipur to Mount Abu.

By Rail : Abu Road station (25 km) is the nearest railhead from Mount Abu. Mount Abu can be reached from the railway station by shared jeep or taxi can also be hired.

By Road : Having well road link, Mount Abu can be reached by bus from locations like Udaipur (185 km), Jodhpur (267 km) and Ahmadabad (222 km).
